Almost Christmas

December 20, 2011

I rarely send Christmas cards and it has been ages since the last time I did it. But this year, I decided to send them to some friends. At first I was doubtful whether to buy or to make ones until I saw these gel stickers. Then for the other card, I sticked it with a little happy pack and I will fill it with cute tiny things.
Meanwhile, I took these pictures below last weekend in the city while waiting for Ana Rosa and Luzma. It was cloudy, windy and cold. When they came, we went to a café and we were exchanging stories about our stay in San Francisco and their story about their holidays in India and Peru and some other stories.

By the way, have you seen this: ¨John Lewis Christmas Advert 2011¨? This could be my favourite Christmas tv commercial. What is your favourite?

It's been a year!

December 16, 2011

It has been a year already since I wrote my very first post. In my second post, you can see me putting up the Christmas tree and here I am putting it up again for the second time. But I think, this time my tree looks better than last year.
In Spain, the tradition is to have ¨belén¨ (nativity scene) instead of a christmas tree, although nowadays christmas trees are getting more common. You can see my small and cute ¨belén¨ above and below; Timi is so curious with the ornaments.

Birthdaygiving

We celebrated thanksgiving last month when we were still in San Francisco at Maya & Abbas' house. They are such an amazing couple with great hospitalilty. We were cooking, playing, laughing, dancing and singing, we had a complete fun with them. We were all so excited about cooking the turkey because none of us had done it before.
Dilara, Maya, Francesca, Benno, Pascual & Georges.
Step by step of how we did the turkey:
-marinate it one day before
-clean, dry and place in a pan
-stuff the turkey
-massage with mayonnaise (Georges' idea)
-put it in the oven and wait for...(we were waiting like 6 hours until the turkey got cooked)
Look how beautiful the turkey was and it tasted yummy too! Before we started the dinner, each of us were giving a quick speech of thanks. Click to watch the video below:

Here I am back at home and cured from jet lag. It really took us five days to get rid of it. It was impossible to avoid taking a nap and when we did, we slept for four to five hours. Then of course, we could not sleep during the night. Anyway, we miss San Francisco already and we miss our friends too. We spent four unforgettable months and had a really good time with them. So I think I will still post some special moments we experienced during our stay and some pictures of the city for the upcoming days since my mind and my heart is still there.
These pictures were taken from our bedroom (through the window) in San Francisco. Some of them were taken on a sunny day, cloudy day, in the morning and in the evening. I do not have night pictures although I tried to shoot some but they were not good.
One day I went to see Mareike in her office and took these pictures below. She is working at the highest building in San Francisco, Transamerica Pyramid, in the 47th floor. The view up there is incredible.
