Two weekends

1st weekend/ 1er fin de semana:

We are currently living in Pat's (the landlady) house in Diamond Heights. It is a pretty nice area with a marvelous view. One Saturday morning she took us to ¨Alemany farmers market¨; a real farmers market where there are no tourists and the prices are good too. We ended up buying so many things. 

Vivimos en casa de Pat (la dueña) en Diamond Heights. Es una zona muy agradable con una vista maravillosa. Un sábado nos llevó a ¨Alemany farmers market¨; un mercado de verdad, donde no hay turistas y los precios son buenos también. Acabamos comprando muchas cosa.

The next day we went to ¨Mission Cliffs¨ because Pascual and his colleague wanted to do indoor climbing. It seems to me that it is less difficult and safer than outdoor climbing. However, I just tried to climb the boulder a little bit because before climbing the wall, they give you a safety class and then you must pass the test. 

Al día siguiente fuimos a ¨Mission Cliffs¨ porque Pascual y su colega querían hacer indoor escalada. Me parece que es menos difícil y más seguro que la escalada al aire libre. Sin embargo, he intentado solamente subir a la roca un poco, porque antes de subir la pared, te dan una clase de seguridad y luego debes pasar la prueba.

This is the ¨Conservatory of flowers¨ San Francisco located in the Golden Gate park. It is free to all visitors on the first Tuesday every month, so I went there on the first Tuesday of this month :) 

Este es el ¨Conservatorio de flores¨ San Francisco ubicado en el parque Golde Gate. Es gratis para todos los visitantes en el primer martes de cada mes, así que fui allí el primer  martes de este mes :)

I think this is the Amazon water lily. The guide said that the leaf of the giant water lily called ¨Victoria amazonica¨ can grow to six feet (1.8 meters) in diameter and can support the weight of a small child. 

Creo que este es el Amazonica water lily. La guía dijo que la hoja de la ¨water lily¨ gigante llamada ¨Victoria amazonica¨ puede crecer hasta 1,8 metros de diámetro y puede soportar el peso de un niño pequeño.

And this is ¨Nepenthes¨ or ¨pitcher plants¨ or the insects eaters.

There was a free concert too next to the conservatory. Hubo también un concierto gratuito al lado del conservatorio.

The statue of Don Quixote y Sancho Panza kneeling to honor their creator, Cervantes, in Golden Gate park. Below is the view of ¨the Spreckels temple of music¨, also in the same park. So I guess that the view behind is the ¨Sunset neighbourhood¨. 

La estatua de Don Quijote y Sancho Panza de rodillas para honrar a su creados, Cervantes, en el parque Golden Gate. Abajo puedes ver ¨the Spreckels temple of music¨, también en el mismo parque. Y creo que la vista atrás es el barrio ¨Sunset¨.

¨Fun cheap SF¨ gives you the information of the upcoming fun and cheap San Francisco and Bay area events. I totally recommend you this website if you want to come to this interesting city. I found out that you can enter ¨The Young Museum¨ for free on the first Tuesday every month. So I went there after visiting the ¨Conservatory of flowers¨.

Me enteré de que puedes entrar en el museo ¨The Young¨ gratis en el primer martes de cada mes. Así que fui allí después de visitar el Conservatorio de flores.

2nd weekend/ 2º fin de semana:

We were so busy last weekend. But I can say that it was such a great weekend. We woke up early Saturday morning and did sport. Pascual went climbing and I ran around the neighbourhood. So we deserved a ¨real stuff¨ like some tacos from the real place like ¨La Taqueria¨. At the beginning we said that we would not repeat the same restaurant, we would go to different places. But this is an exception, we do not mind having tacos here repeatedly. 

Estuvimos muy ocupados la semana pasada. Pero fue un fin de semana estupendo. Nos levantamos temprano el sábado e hicimos deporte. Pascual fue a escalar y yo corrí por el barrio. Por eso, merecíamos ¨comida de verdad¨ como algunos tacos de ¨La Taquería¨. Al principio dijimos que no ibamos a repetir el mismo restaurante, iríamos a distintos lugares. Pero esto es una excepción, no nos importa tener tacos aquí varias veces.

¨Quesadilla de carne¨ is my favourite. ¨Quesadilla de carne¨ es mi favorita.

We spent a wonderful time with Mariana and her friends in the evening. We had dinner in ¨Firefly¨ (Noe Valley) then we went to Alejandra's house and stayed until late in the night. The next morning we woke up at 6.30am to rent bikes, catch the ferry to Vallejo then we biked until Napa Valley.

When we rented bikes, poeple kept asking us if we would bike to Golden Gate Bridge. They were surprised when we told them that we were going to Napa. We did not want to bike to Golden Gate Bridge and we will not. It is a ¨tourist's thing¨. 

Pasamos un tiempo maravilloso con Mariana y sus amigos por la tarde. Cenamos en ¨Firefly¨ (Noe Valley) y luego fuimos a casa de Alejandra y quedamos allí hasta muy tarde. A la mañana siguiente nos derpertamos a las 6.30 para alquilar las bicis, coger el ferry a Vallejo y luego ir en bici a Napa Valley. 

Cuando alquilamos las bicicletas, nos preguntaba la gente que si alquilamos las bicis para ir al Golden Gate. Se sorpredieron cuando les dijimos que íbamos a Napa. No quisimos ir en bici al Golden Gate y lo haremos. Es una cosa de turistas.

We stopped in the Black Stallion and enjoyed some wine tasting. They have an ¨Educational Vineyard¨ so we could try as much as we wanted the different kinds of grapes vines; sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, muscatel, chardonnay, syrah, merlot, etc. We loved it! 

Paramos en ¨Black Stallion¨ y disfrutamos de la cata de vino. Tienen un viñedo educativo y pudimos probar todos los tipos de uvas de vino que quisiéramos ; sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, moscatel, chardonnay, syrah, merlot, etc. Nos encantó!

We did not realize that we had little time to stay because we had to catch up the ferry back to San Francisco. So we grabbed burgers from ¨In n Out Burger¨ and look how big the onion is!

No nos dimos cuenta de que teníamos poco tiempo para quedarnos porque teníamos que coger el ferry de vuelta a San Francisco. Así que tomamos hamburguesas de ¨In n Out Burger¨ y mira que grande es la cebolla!

We were tired but we experienced intensively fun adventure. We biked almost 70 kilometers. Pascual got a flat tire on the way. We thought that it was the end of our trip. The only way to solve the problem was to stop somebody who was driving a truck and ask them to bring Pascual and his bike to Napa. And there was this guy with a heart of gold who was willing to do it, even he brought us all in his truck to the bike shop that was open. We got the bike fixed, we continued our trip and we had a good time!

Estabamos cansados, pero vivimos una aventura intensamente divertida. Montamos en la bici casi 70 kiñometros. Pascual tuvo una rueda pinchada en el camino. Pensamos que era el final de nuestro viaje. La única opción para resolver el problema era detener a alguien que conducía un camión y le pedimos que traiga a Pascual y su bici hasta Napa. Y apareció un chico con el corazón de oro que estaba dispuesto a hacerlo, incluso nos llevó a todos en su camión a la tienda de bicicletas que estaba abierta. Nos arreglaron la bici, seguimos el viaje y lo pasamos muy bien!
